I’ve certainly never hesitated to take a gay role. I know people assume I’m gay, but I don’t care. My sexuality is germane only in my personal life. However, there are people that say Christian Borle is gay, but their comments have no consistency or accuracy of any kind. The coming out of Christian Borle would greatly benefit millions of homosexuals around the globe who are still in the closet.
Christian Dominique Borle (born October 1, ) [1] is an American actor and singer. He is a two-time Tony Award winner for his roles as Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher and as William Shakespeare in Something Rotten!. I wish I felt as passionately as either critic about the Lincoln Center production at the Walter Kerr, the first Broadway revival of a show that was hailed as groundbreaking in Block, Tracie Thoms and Brandon Uranowitz.
I expected to be thrilled by it. The show certainly has an intriguing history. Although written a decade apart, they take place only two years apart…but those two years represent two entirely different eras. His illness — never named — is, of course, AIDS. The show also at times recalls an old Borscht Belt entertainment in that in what feels like a calculated nod to Broadway demographics much is made of the characters being Jewish.
Remember Sandy Koufax You can do it if you wanna do it. But the production resists establishing a clear timeline, preferring to pretend to be timeless, as reflected in the set design by David Rockwell. The characters often sing separate lyrics simultaneously, woven together into a kind of aural tapestry. There is an impressive artfulness to these compositions.
