Perhaps founded as a fortress in the 4th or 5th century BCE, its imposing cathedral , whose construction started in , though it was never finished, is probably its most iconic structure. The beaches are wider and more sweeping than those in Taormina, which is probably why The White Lotus filmed its beach scenes here.
